Meet Virgile Rangeard, co-founder and CEO of the Real-Time Compensation Benchmark app: numbers

I created Figures because after an 11-year career in HR, I was tired of not having reliable salary data in the start-up and scale-up market. I was joined by Bastien Formery to provide start-ups and digital companies with the first compensation benchmark product with reliable, real-time salary data.

The numbers allow companies to adjust their compensation policy with the most accurate market data possible. After starting in France, we expanded to Europe and are now present in Germany, UK, France, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and counting!

What makes Figures unique?

We are the only clearing product with reliable market data for start-ups across Europe. Plus, thanks to our real-time HR/payroll systems integration, our data is real-time; tracking market movements accurately is very important, especially given the current unstable environment (inflation, remote boom, etc.).

How has Figures evolved over the past two years?

We were created in October 2020 and focused on France for over a year. In 2022, we grew from 190 customers in 2 countries to over 800 customers in 14 countries at the end of September! More than our dataset, our product has grown a lot in just a few months.

We can now help our clients prepare for their next compensation review in the most efficient and accurate way possible: by identifying employees at risk, taking into account local inflation rates and adjusting our clients’ policy. Do they want to pay “at market rates” or do they want to pay top of the range? Providing data is just a first step: compensation is so complex, there is so much more to do to help companies figure out (pun intended) their compensation mechanisms!

What can we expect to see from Figures in the future?

We will continue to expand rapidly across Europe. We are moving towards a fully distributed world. It is no longer enough to have data in London, Paris or Berlin, we have to help our clients to know how much they have to pay for their next hires in Lisbon, Krakow or Athens!
In addition, we want to help companies design and execute their full pay review cycles in our product. No more spreadsheets! This means manager onboarding, budget management, validation workflow, and fairness monitoring. We’re really excited about what we’re working on right now, which we think will change people’s experience with compensation reviews!

Transparency in remuneration is coming, it is inevitable. We believe Figures can help companies manage this transition much more easily. We will help communicate with employees and candidates, who are often confused about what they earn today or what they can earn tomorrow!
